Automata is a top Sydney restaurant located in Chippendale. Helmed by Head Chef Clayton Wells who brings a movable approach to a frequently changing menu. For lunch we offer the option between a 3 or 5 course menu, and for dinner a 5 or 7 course menu. Components stem from Clayton’s varied background at some of Australia and Europe’s dining institutions. Menus are formulated with freedom and energy that translates into the dining room, with beverages and pairings beyond wine. The warehouse style space along Kensington Street includes a mezzanine and communal tables.
We will be throwing a special winter feast at Automata on the 25th of July to hero the season, showcasing beautiful ingredients in a five course menu, plus snacks. 3-course lunch menu for $60.

Our sister restaurant is now officially open. An all-day eatery on the ground floor of The Old Rum Store in Chippendale, offering breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Daytime at A1 Canteen will have a casual, café vibe, while dinner will see A1 Canteen become a chic neighbourhood bistro that guests can dine at often with a regularly changing menu. Book here.
