Automata is a top Sydney restaurant located in Chippendale. Helmed by Head Chef Clayton Wells who brings a movable approach to a frequently changing menu. For lunch we offer the option between a 3 or 5 course menu, and for dinner a 5 or 7 course menu. Components stem from Clayton’s varied background at some of Australia and Europe’s dining institutions. Menus are formulated with freedom and energy that translates into the dining room, with beverages and pairings beyond wine. The warehouse style space along Kensington Street includes a mezzanine and communal tables.
Indulge your senses at the ultimate tea pairing dining experience. Sydney Tea Festival and Automata have collaborated on a five-course tasting menu with matching premium teas. This dinner will include seasonal dishes beautifully paired with unique and rare teas from all parts of the world. Held in Automata’s private mezzanine dining space, this event is a must for lovers of tea and fine dining. Book here.
On the 30th of August, Automata and Clayton Wells welcomes Guy Stanaway (of Doot Doot Doot) to collaborate the first of two chef swap events between The Old Clare Hotel and The Jackalope, Melbourne. The two chefs will collaborate on a specially designed five course tasting menu – three dishes by the guest, and two dishes by the resident chef for $110pp. Book here.
Our sister restaurant is now officially open. An all-day eatery on the ground floor of The Old Rum Store in Chippendale, offering breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Daytime at A1 Canteen will have a casual, café vibe, while dinner will see A1 Canteen become a chic neighbourhood bistro that guests can dine at often with a regularly changing menu. Book here.
