Clayton Wells worked closely with designer Matt Darwon a.k.a. Matt Machine on the raw, industrial look of the restaurant design that plays on the theme of machinery and non-electronic automation.
Matt's style of creating a space goes against all traditional aspects of interior design. The warehouse-style building features 6-metre high ceilings, and original floor to ceiling windows from when the building used to be the Carlton & United Brewery administration building.
With concrete floors and machine-inspired lights, the simplicity of communal tables only adds on to the raw identity.
To top it off, a mezzanine floor with a curved ceiling featuring original wooden panels from the former building structure, giving a sense of time whilst including Chippendale's heritage.
